This is an incredibly stable pad. Awesome in fact. I had tried the Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad and it slid all over. It endangered not only the unit but me and my passengers. It knonked my wife on the knee pretty hard. You had to constantly be on edge that it would fall off.
This item though is like super-glue. It sticks on EVERY turn and I am using it on the same exact dashboard the Bracketron would slide constantly on. This has not slid once on any turn, sharp U-turns included. I can not get it to budge. As an added bonus it is much smaller than the Bracketron hence easier to transfer between cars or stick in a glove department. It is usually priced higher than the Bracketron but it will be the best extra few dollars you have spent.

I got a brand new Tom Tom One and immediately applied the adhesive disk to my windshield. Then as I was reading the instructions (and another review), I found out that California (and Minnesota) have laws against Navigational devices being applied to windshields. That disc was a nightmare to remove with even my sharpest knife! Not to mention using a razor black to scrape the remaining glue off.
The Trek V2 is perfect for most GPS devices, especially Tom Tom One’s as the Tom Tom sits lower than most devices. It feels like a heavy beanbag with a rubber bottom that resists movement. It’s slightly bulky, but not too intrusive. I just placed the Trek V2 on my dashboard with the Tom Tom and it doesn’t move! No sticky waste and I can store it in my glove compartment. I have not seen how it will react to slamming on the brakes at 55 mph and I hope I don’t have to! However, it does not move in even the sharpest of turns. Great invention!

I kept having problems with my GPS staying stuck to the windshield with shifting humidity… this is definitely the answer. It doesn’t look like it’ll stay put on the dash, but it’s got a non-slip bottom, and it’s hefty enough to stay in one place. The GPS stays where it’s supposed to, and the mount has never moved unless I was trying to move it. Works absoultely perfectly.

This mount is heavy, stable, and does what it’s supposed to do. There is a protective paper covering on the bottom which, obviously, must be removed before you can use it. Some Tips.
If you have used Armorall, or something similar, on your dash, You will need to vigerously wipe the area where you intend to place the mount with a damp cloth.
You will have to make sure there is no dust on the dash where this will sit.
I always wipe the bottom of the mount with a damp cloth to remove any dust before using it.

Just a few quick words to consider for the GPS user:
I had purchased another popular friction mount with my first GPS unit. Mounting on the windshield invites thievery! After about 10 months, the grommets on the other holder holding the weights broke, and the mount became an annoying beanbag.
This unit has the weights in a nice compact package that do not look like they will lose their shape or break. The unit is nice looking, and small!
It is probably only a 1/3 larger than the width of a 4.3 inch unit. This means you do not have a cumbersome unit on your dash.
Underneath, there is sticky plastic that should hold the unit in place. I have had occasion where I have disturbed the unit when making sudden stops or aggressive turns, but typically it is extremely stable.
For the price, I think this is the ideal friction mount and so far I am very pleased.
